They Said, We Said: Social Media's Orchestrated War of Words over Equine Welfare

Last weekend, the faithful on both sides of equine welfare issues in the United States reached for social media tools to advance their viewpoints. From hashtags to Thunderclap, from Bo Derek to members of Congress, images and messages spoke a unified message--or shouted back at one.

Some did it by shouting, some did it with a hashtag of hugs. Thunderclap saw a head-to-head battle to advance or discredit the proposed PAST Act amendments to the American Horse Protection Act.

But was anyone's mind changed? Did people contact their Congressional representatives? Will people really stay home from the Kentucky Derby?
