New episode of popular H&C TV series showcases the history of horseracing

The home of British horseracing is the focus of a brand-new episode of Horse & Country TV’s popular magazine show, Rudall’s Round-Up.

Presenter Jenny Rudall heads to Newmarket to visit Palace House, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art. This unique cultural hub, which is based at the original site of the racing palace of Charles II, was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in November 2016. It now comprises the National Horseracing Museum, a gallery of sporting art and the flagship home of the Retraining of Racehorses charity.

In part one of the programme, Jenny explores Palace House to find out about the incredible history of the Thoroughbred, and discovers more about the town of Newmarket, which is home to more than 2,000 racehorses. She also meets some of the equine residents at the Rothschild Yard, and learns more about retraining ex-racehorses for a new career.

In the second part, Jenny is given a tour round some of the amazing works of art held at Palace House; then hears about the remarkable story of Derby and St Leger winner Hyperion. She also gets the chance to experience riding jockey-style when she has a go on the centre’s Equiciser.

“I really enjoyed my visit to Palace House, and I hope Horse & Country TV viewers will tune in to find out more about this historic site right in the middle of the town of Newmarket,” says presenter Jenny Rudall.

Jonathan Rippon, H&C’s Head of Programming, adds: “Horse & Country TV delivers programming that showcases the whole spectrum of equestrian sport, from pleasure riding to the Olympic disciplines. This new episode of our longstanding series Rudall’s Round-Up is part of our growing commitment to get behind the scenes of the horseracing world on the channel. Previous racing documentaries such as The Long Shot and Against The Odds are available to watch On Demand on H&C or on Amazon Prime Video.”

Rudall's Round-Up: Palace House premieres on Monday 11th June at 8.30pm, and will be shown again on Tuesday 12th June at 9.30pm and on Friday 15th June at 8pm. The show can be watched on Sky channel 184 in the UK and Ireland, via the Horse & Country TV website and app, or through Amazon Prime Video. The channel is also available in The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Australia and the USA.
